9 Unmade Guillermo Del Toro Projects We’d Love To See

There's no such thing as too much Del Toro.

The critical and commercial flop of the Hellboy reboot is painful for many reasons, but the biggest slap in the face is that its failure has cemented the fact that another unmade Guillermo Del Toro project was sent to the graveyard by its very existence.

Guillermo Del Toro is one of the most compelling directors in Hollywood and fans simply cannot get enough of his films. Luckily, he's also one of the most prolific minds in Hollywood and has a wealth of completed scripts that haven’t made it to screen.

This is a tragedy, particularly because any one of these projects would make wonderful films. In an ideal world, Del Toro’s Oscar combined with his passionate fanbase would be enough to get studios to revisit these projects, but this world is far from ideal, no matter how genius some of these sound...

When Del Toro tweeted a list of his unmade projects, he stated that he ‘LOVED’ his adaptation of 'The Wind in the Willows.'

He was working on an animated adaptation of the beloved children’s novel back in the early 2000s, but, sadly, it never came to fruition because the studio had a very different vision to Del Toro.

In other words, they made a number of bizarre suggestions, like giving Toad a skateboard and at this point, Del Toro made the wise decision to step back.

Considering that the story hasn’t had a widely released film adaptation since 1996, now is a good time for someone to pick up this project. There’s absolutely no doubt that a Del Toro directed animation would be anything short of a beautiful work of art.
