8. The Skeleton Twins
Kristen Wiig has had no shortage of comedic success in Hollywood since leaving Saturday Night Live in May of 2012. However, dramatic roles in tepid features such as Friends with Kids and Girl Most Likely, while certainly admirable attempts, left audiences wondering if she did indeed have the acting chops to bring her career to the next level. Through all indications, her role alongside fellow SNL alum Bill Hader in Craig Johnsons sophomore effort The Skeleton Twins is a huge step in the right direction. Wiig and Hader play estranged twins who reunite after separate chance near-death experiences, subsequently setting them on a course to fix their relationship and their lives. The film picked up an award for its script at Sundance back in January and could be set to make waves on the indie scene later this year.
