9 Upcoming Movies That Sound Cool (But Will Probably Suck)

6. Shaft

Shaft 2019
Warner Bros.

There's no two ways about it: a Shaft cinematic universe sounds awesome. Bringing together three different generations of actors who have played the character before, with Richard Roundtree, Sam Jackson and newcomer Jessie Usher all acting alongside each other, the film is attempting to bring you the supergroup team-up you never knew you wanted.

While the concept is great though, production isn't exactly going flawlessly. First up, director Tim Story doesn't have the best track record, helming the first two Fantastic Four movies as well as abysmal comedies like Think Like a Man and Ride Along.

Secondly, Netflix have also gotten involved, offering to pay for half of the production so they can debut the film directly on their platform outside of America two weeks after its theatrical release. While Netflix at one point was a mark of quality, these days they're more known for gobbling up half-baked ideas and cashing in on curiosity and name recognition, and it's easy to see Shaft following suit.
