5. World Of Warcraft
Huh? If you're a Warcraft fan, chances are you know all about this one. What am I kidding? Of course you know about this, because you're counting down the days 'til it hits theatres, right? Duncan Jones (
Moon,
Source Code) has signed on to adapt the world's most popular MMORPG and has been gifted with a whopping $100 million budget to do it right. The game itself has pulled millions of unsuspecting gamers into its midst over the last few years, many of whom are wholly addicted to its expansive world of magic, monsters and mighty quests. Though there's some concern doing the rounds at the moment regarding the status of the production, it's apparently still in the works, as confirmed by the release of some recent concept art. The movie is currently scheduled for a 2015 release, and the plot unknown.
Could It Work? With Jones at the helm, certainly. There's so much to material to work with, though, that the writers would probably be better off keeping the story on a relatively small scale, as to introduce us to Warcraft gradually and not attempt to blow our minds all at once - 'cause this is a movie franchise waiting to happen, right? Why rush things?
