Here's the biggest kicker with the trailer and one that dampens the few things it manages to get right; most of it's a case of been there, done that. Ignoring all the location leaks, there's a lot in here that simply isn't new to those who've been following the film. The looks at the costumes are directly from that lacklustre tease, while Batman in his Dark Knight Returns-style armour getting ready to fight as the whole point of the short clip from last year's San Diego Comic-Con (which, while not officially, has been available online in cameraphone form for months). Even the new footage - Superman showing off his strength and Batman surveying the city - is so familiar to what's been seen in the characters' previous movies that it's hard to call original. As something trumpeted by the studio (and the press-release regurgitating news sites) as a "First Look", it's decidedly un-unique. That won't matter to Joe Public seeing the trailer for the first time in the cinema, but for all the detractors who are dreading March 24th 2016, there's little tonic to the nagging, ominous feelings of doubt.
