9 Well Deserved Movie Villain Deaths
2. Pete - Wind River
The investigation into the death of a teenage girl in rural Wyoming, is a haunting and sorry tale that sets the tone for noir, mystery and lost justice throughout the story.
When a surprise flashback comes out of nowhere, the audience is transported to the very scene that started the investigation. It’s halfway into this flashback that we’re introduced to the previously unseen “Pete”. From the moment he drunkenly stumbles onto the screen, we know this guy is trouble.
His weasly behaviour is enabled and supported by the other workers of a remote drill site leads into a scene too disturbing to describe. When we flashforward back to the present our protagonists face-off against Pete and a gun battle ensues.
After the shootout, Pete is caught and confesses to his crimes. He snivels and attempts to justify himself, and animal hunter Cory Lambert sends him out in the cold snow to die in the same way the girl he attacked perished.
We leave cowardly Pete suffocating and choking down on the blood gushing from his freezing lungs. Justice may not have been served lawfully, but it’s fitting for a man as despicable as him.
