9 Worst Accidents That Keep Happening On The Sets Of Hollywood Movies

Accidents, explosions, crashes and conflagrations: mayhem on the movie set.

A lot of things can go wrong when shooting a movie, especially the bigger budget, larger scale kind that Hollywood likes to throw money at. While these days the application of computer generated imagery has taken a lot of the danger out of the bigger set pieces, there are still those directors who prefer a more practical touch. That requires the involvement of the human element€ and the human element often finds itself more than a little breakable. So many people have been bruised, broken, maimed, shot, impaled, dropped from a great height, blown up and/or set on fire, run over, or otherwise horrifyingly damaged while engaged in the beautiful art of movie-making that you'd be forgiven for thinking that the film set should come with some form of public health warning. And this is in an industry of trained professionals: no wonder insurance companies refused to cover Robert Downey, Jr. back in the day. It's surprising they didn't have security keeping him from the set. In the interests of taste the memories of dead stuntmen and stuntwomen have been spared here. Madder than a bag full of frogs as a rule, they laugh in the face of Death and make prank calls to Fear at all hours, and the world should salute them for it. No, we're going to look at the less risky denizens of Hollywood - actors and producers, directors and crew - and take a peek into the kind of unhappy damage cinema has inflicted on its stars over the last century or so€
