9 Worst Movie Accents Of Sean Connery

1. The Untouchables

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI67dSs3dXU One would have thought that in the almost three decades since Connery first tried an Irish accent in Darby O'Gill that he would have figured out how to do a passable Irish brogue. Audiences likely expected as much when Connery was cast as tough-as-nails Chicago Irish-American police officer Jim Malone in 1987's The Untouchables. However, Connery seemed to think that just speaking faster and at a higher pitch would make him sound Irish. It doesn't, and he often forgets to do it anyway and just slips back to his familiar speaking voice. This particular Connery accent has annoyed moviegoers like no other. In 2003, Empire Magazine voted Connery's Untouchables accent as the worst movie accent of all time. A 2009 poll by an American ticket agency came to the same conclusion. IrishCentral.com put it as #2 on its worst Irish movie accent list, but Connery shouldn't celebrate that €“ his Darby O'Gill accent was selected as #1. Though Connery's accent in Hunt for Red October might be worse, part of the backlash against Connery's Irish-American "accent" in The Untouchables is the fact that he was awarded his only Oscar for a role that clearly wasn't among his very best (in fact, it was Connery's only nomination). Or maybe people just really hate this particular Connery accent. What do you think is Sean Connery's worst movie accent? Share your pick below.
