Though filming has yet to even begin, the release date for the sequel has already been announced. Taking to Instagram, John Krasinski teased that the tentatively-titled A Quiet Place Part II would be coming to theaters on May 15, 2020.

This has big ramifications in a couple of different ways. First off, with proper production being rumored to start in earnest this July, it means that Krasinski and crew will have less than a year to film and edit the film. That's not a huge amount of time but it is surprisingly more time than they had for the first film, which was essentially edited in just a few months.

But secondly and perhaps more notably, the studio clearly sees this as a blockbuster sequel with a chance to break out at the box office in an even bigger way. The first film was released in early April, a section of time fairly devoid of other big releases. The sequel has been given the prime spot of early May, which is when studios usually unleash their biggest releases.

Other movies set for release in the first few weeks of May in 2020 include an as-yet-unannounced Marvel film, Fast & Furious 9, a Scooby-Doo movie, and Legally Blonde 3. So Paramount is clearly confident that A Quiet Place 2 will be more than capable of carving out its own spot amongst these franchises.
