Aaron Sorkin is writing a FACEBOOK movie?!?
Set around the 23 year old self made billionaire who created a social giant in no time at all.
Aaron Sorkin, the writer and playwright of such respected works as Charlie Wilson's War, A Few Good Men and Spielberg's so far unproduced Trial of the Chicago 7 - has revealed on his newly created Facebook page that he is making a movie based on the popular social networking site. Though it won't be about sending poke's, stalking your old school mates or desperately trying to get laid - it will actually be based around how a group of college students created a social juggernaut and made themselves billionaires in a short space of a few years.
"I've just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented. I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I've started this page. (Actually it was started by my researcher, Ian Reichbach, because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she's been dead for 33 years.)"Facebook was founded just over four years ago by Harvard University Student Mark Zuckerberg who Forbes Magazine claim is " youngest billionaire on earth and possibly the youngest self-made billionaire ever," with a estimated net gross of around 1 and a half billion dollars. Facebook itself has over 60 million subscribers and is valued at around $16 billion. Like the movie 21, I think this is a fascinating true story about a young kid who suddenely made it big and although I'm not sure where the dramatic tension lies, I am damn sure interested to see how this visionary made their living for life in such a short space of time. Wow, you can't help but get a feeling of the Tom Hanks movie Big when you see this little vid, the kid who is running a company...
No idea how Sorkin is going make this into a dramatic film but I'm interested to see it nevertheless. And yes, Obsessed With Film and me myself will get our Facebook sorted out eventually guys!!!
