Adrien Brody: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked
4. Clive Nicoli - Splice (2009)
Hoo boy. In Splice, Brody plays a mad scientist-type who creates an entirely new creature spliced (hey!) together from the genes of a bunch of different animals, including humans. The little creature grows fast, into a weirdly-hot-looking young... thing, with a tail and hands for feet and sh*t. Then Adrien Brody f*cks it. It's a weird movie. Fairly scary, in some places, sure, and a healthy warning about the dangers of screwing around with the gene pool - but Brody is an odd fit for the role, coming off as a sleazy scientist who maybe even grew the female creature-thing because he wanted to have sex with it. And that didn't come from the script - it comes from his performance. Brr.
