After Earth: Will Smith & 4 Other Movie Stars Keeping It In The Family

1. Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda

On Golden Pond Our final father/daughter pairing, this time from the legendary Fonda family. The Movie(s): Despite having been famous since the 1940's, the Fonda family never really got a chance to work together in a film. Until, that is, 1981, for what would prove to be the great Henry Fonda's final movie, and in which he got a chance to act alongside his daughter Jane - On Golden Pond. Did It Work?: Holy cow, yes it did. Not only was it the second highest grossing film of the year (behind Raiders of the Lost Ark, no less!), it received stellar reviews. It won three Academy Awards (which included one for Henry Fonda in his leading role), with another seven nominations (including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Jane Fonda). What was one of the reasons for such good reception? As Roger Ebert put it "I could believe it. I could believe in its major characters and their relationships, and in the things they felt for one another." Best argument for keeping it in the family I've ever heard. So what do you all think? Does it work out better or worse when movie stars and directors keep it in the family? Sound off in the comments below!
