After Skyfall: 10 Future Predictions For The James Bond Franchise

8. Return of the Cool

In a world obsessed with prequels and origin stories it was a great idea to show a younger, more brutish Bond in Daniel Craig€™s incarnation. In fact, an initial description of Casino Royale from the writer himself was of an €œoafish opus€ and in one of six special edition €˜Bond€™ covers, GQ titles Craig€™s as the €œHitman€ which rightly reflects M€™s description of him as a €˜Blunt Instrument€™. The literary Bond, however, is adept, skilled and a workaholic and the only thing blunt about him is his dialogue towards men he loathed such as the golfing cheat Goldfinger. Something to expect in the coming films is less scenes akin to the embassy exit strategy in Casino Royale and more of a man in control of the €˜bigger picture€™. Everyone has to grow up at some point and this includes Bond.

A. J. S. Scott was created as a homunculus by a mad English Alchemist who was trying to make rum from ink and seawater. He is still a fan of both and he has no comment on what happened to all the ‘No Exit’ signs in Islington Underground Station when he visited for Beltaine. You can send him missives by bribing the Right Raven with sour-strings, or: Instagram: @ajsscott Tumblr: andrew-scott-things.tumblr.com
