Claims of getting closer to the books would inevitably take Bond away from the earlier cheese and modern Hollywood shock-tactics. He had never liked doing it, Fleming wrote about killing, and when he had to kill he did it as well as he knew how and forgot about it. Although there were occasions, in both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, of Bonds brutish kills there are also hints of his ability to kill intricately and calculatedly. In the coming films fewer more pragmatic kills are likely to ensue since, after all, dropping fellers from rooftops onto cars with passengers inside is likely draw unwanted attention to an international man of
mystery.
