After The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Actors Who Should Play Batman in Reboot

6. Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is an interesting one. Currently on lead role duty in the aforementioned Soderbergh movie Magic Mike, Tatum€™s reputation is beginning to precede him. Perhaps this is unfair perhaps it€™s justified. In one of his early films, A Guide to Recognising Your Saints, Tatum€™s performance as Young Antonio was one of the highlights of the admirable-yet-flawed film. Since then Tatum€™s choices haven€™t tended to use his undeniable talent too effectively. Whilst his performance in 21 Jump Street was a pleasant surprise for many, often shirtless turns in films like The Vow and Dear John as well as the Step Up franchise have got the attention of the rom-com crowd simultaneously failing to endear him to the comic book fan boys. It doesn€™t seem coincidental that in Tatum€™s current film, Magic Mike, he€™s cast alongside the extremely talented though again, often shirtless, Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey himself is undergoing a bit of a career reinvention, so if he could have a word with Tatum now, maybe Tatum can start the reinvention early, restore his reputation and appease the fan boys before the release of the next Batman film. Saying that, he hasn€™t even been cast but with his stock on the rise, he will inevitably at least be considered when the Batman casting process begins, and rightly so. Now 32, Tatum has all the required attributes to make a good Batman; he can certainly act and clearly has the physical presence. Whether he€™d be accepted is another thing, though lest it not be forgotten the Heath Ledger made 10 Things I Hate About You and Casanova before taking on The Joker role in The Dark Knight.
