5. Guillermo Del Toro
Once upon a time in Gotham...
Limited CV: Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Pans Labyrinth, Hellboy, Blade II, The Devils Backbone, Mimic, Cronos After helming Blade II, arguably the best of the Blade movies, Del Toro cemented his healthy interest in the darker world of the comic book properties with Hellboy and Hellboy II. Despite some mixed reviews, these movies illuminated just how intrinsically connected to geekdom Del Toro actually is. Del Toros movies are less mainstream and are often best known for their dream-like, fairy-tale quality and if you ever caught Pans Labyrinth youll know that hes extremely good at pulling off weird while simultaneously maintaining a sense of excitably whimsy I know Nolan went for a gritty, real world tone in his take on Batman but if (more like 'when' I feel) the Batman reboot happens its surely got to head in a new direction right? I imagine a Benicio Del Toro take on this iconic character as being completely unique from Nolans, much in the same way that Batman Begins was to everything that preceded it.
