Aladdin Trailer Breakdown: 10 Things You Need To See

2. Distinctly A Guy Ritchie Film

One of the most perplexing elements about the marketing for this film is that, up until this point, audiences effectively had no idea what the film was going to be. We'd gotten a handful of teasers that pretty much just went for the low-hanging fruit of just aping stuff from the original film but didn't really do much of anything to show what made this film anything different.

But after this trailer, we know exactly what it is and the answer seems so obvious: for better or worse, it's a Guy Ritchie film.

From the opening action setpiece, to the mish-mash of CGI, to the shot at the end of a seemingly dragon-sized Iago chasing after Aladdin on rooftops, this looks exactly like one would expect from the director's follow-up to King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

It remains to be seen exactly how well Ritchie's sensibilities actually pair with the material, as the results right now seem decidedly mixed. However, I do think we can say with confidence that Ritchie will, at the very least, deliver on giving us a third-act battle with Jafar turning into a big 'ole CGI snake.

So we've got that going for us.
