Albert Finney To Play M's Superior in BOND 23

Filming is set to begin next week along the press conference reveal of the 23rd Bond film.

You still don't believe me when I say that the next James Bond movie (we still think it will be called Skyfall) has the best talent behind it of any film in the near 50 year history of the much-loved cinematic franchise? Well how's about this to push you over the edge... The Daily Mail says FIVE time Oscar nominee Albert Finney has joined the Bond 23 cast in €œa reasonably big role€ as one of the top brass at the British Foreign Office, who is basically M's (Judi Dench) boss. The actor has just joined the cast for a table read, with filming set to begin next week along with the big press conference at Pinewood Studios with the plot/title reveal. 2012 will mark Finney's return to acting after a five year absence from our screens battling prostate cancer and in somewhat of a strange happenstance, he will appear in both the Bourne and Bond spy genre franchises. He was recently secured by Tony Gilroy to make a return in The Bourne Legacy where he will be reprising the role of Dr. Albert Hirsch, the creepy bloke from The Bourne Ultimatum. We imagine this was the part The Deep Blue Sea actor Simon Russell Beale was originally offered but had to turn it down due to scheduling issues. In any event it's another fabulous addition to this insanely talented group that are putting together the next Bond movie. Once upon a time Albert Finney could easily have played M and he will fit in brilliantly with this universe. Director Sam Mendes, the first Oscar winner to ever helm a Bond movie, and the man responsible for such amazing films as American Beauty and Road To Perdition, is a name that along with The Aviator writer John Logan's script (which is so strong, he is expected to be brought back for Bond 24) has attracted this astonishing cast; Daniel Craig leads as 007 (the 3rd of 4 contracted outings as Bond) Judi Dench is back as M, Rory Kinnear returns as her assistant. Albert Finney is there boss! Javier Bardem is the villain French beauty Bérénice Marlohe is the Bond girl. Ralph Fiennes is looking likely as the head of Q.U.A.N.T.U.M Naomie Harris brings Moneypenny back to the big screen Then there€™s supporting roles for Helen McCroy and Ben Wishaw, although Jeffrey Wright has said he hasn€™t yet had the phone call to return as Felix Leiter. Bond 23 will hit the U.K. on October 26, 2012 with a U.S. release following on November 9th. I don't remember ever being this excited about a Bond movie...
