X2, the second X-Men movie that's now the fourth X-Men movie. Yeesh.

As far as viewing order, this is thankfully an easy one. It takes place a few months after the last X-Movie, just long enough for everyone to get new hairstyles and for Storm to lose her accent.

This movie's continuity problems tie directly into X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The facility where he gets his adamantium looks completely different and nobody acknowledges Wolverine previously having bone claws in this movie.

For arguments sake, it's not a huge leap to say that Wolverine's memories are not a perfect representation of the Weapon X program. As for when we see the Weapon X program later in the movie, just assume they redesigned the facility in the last 15 years.

X2 does make X-Men Origins: Wolverine entirely pointless. Through conversation, we learn that Wolverine volunteered for the Weapon X program and was always kind of a jerk. That's about all that's shown in Origins, making the movie a waste of time. The argument can't even be made that Wolverine grew and changed as a character, because at the end of it all he lost all of his memories, resetting him to factory default.
