All 6 James Bond Actors Ranked
4. Sir Roger Moore
Sir Roger Moore played James Bond for the longest period of time, his tenure on the character lasting twelve years and comprising seven films. There are many fans who still consider him to be the best portrayal of Agent 007.
Although Moore's first three outings as the spy (Live And Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me) retained to some extent the feel of Fleming's novels and the Connery-era films, everything from Moonraker onward became its own thing. The latter four Moore films adapted a style so ludicrously campy that they really cannot be taken seriously.
Even so, Roger Moore's wonderful, eyebrows-raised performance as Bond shines throughout all of the films. Even though his is the furthest from the James Bond of Fleming's novels, Moore undoubtedly gave more to the character than any other actor. As aforementioned, he played the character for the longest period, but he also carried a genuine passion for Bond which the other five actors lacked.
He wrote books on the James Bond films, recorded audio commentaries for home video releases of his films, and would likely have gone on playing the character for even longer had he not aged to the extent of being unfit to play a dashing action hero by his final Bond film in 1985.
All of this showcases Roger Moore's love for the character he portrayed so many times, becoming the definitive Bond for a generation.
