All 6 James Bond Actors Ranked

3. Daniel Craig

Every Bond Ranked
Sony Pictures

After 2002's disastrous failure, Die Another Day, it was decided that James Bond had to be redesigned for the 21st century. The first step was to recast the character, with Pierce Brosnan being replaced by Daniel Craig.

At first, fans were horrified. Daniel Craig was so short! Daniel Craig was blonde! Daniel Craig couldn't possibly be James Bond!

The fans couldn't have been more wrong; Craig's debut as Agent 007 in 2006's Casino Royale, a fairly accurate adaptation of the very first Ian Fleming Bond novel, was tremendously well-received by fans and critics alike. The film itself also garnered immense critical acclaim and many said it was the best Bond film ever.

There were many factors which contributed to this popularity: the accuracy to the source, the writing, the modernisation of the character, the gritty and realistic style. But no element of the film was praised more than Daniel Craig's brilliant performance as the most human Bond ever put to screen.

Craig went on to play the character three more times, and his fourth and final outing, No Time To Die, is due to be released this November.

Daniel Craig is the James Bond of the modern era. Undoubtedly, for years to come, he will be seen one of the best and most iconic portrayals of James Bond, embodying the character for a generation.
