All Of Christian Bale's Most Unbelievable Movie Transformations - Ranked

2. Vice (2018)

Christian Bale Machinist Vice

Vice tells the story of U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's rise to power through decades of government service, but if you didn't see Bale's name in the credits, it's likely you didn't recognize he was playing the man himself. Dick Cheney looks nothing like Christian Bale, but that didn't stop the actor from taking the role.

Not only did he take on the role to play Chaney, but the film also details his life at two very different ages. He had to shave his head, bleach his brow, and gain 40 lbs (18 kg) with much of that going into his neck.

Bale accomplished this by doing specific exercises to thicken his neck while simultaneously eating massive amounts of food to build up his belly fat. When the movie was finally released, Bale had utterly transformed himself into an overweight, middle-aged man. With the help of the makeup department, he even went on to look like a man in his 70s.

Given his amazing transformations over the years, it may not sound like 40 lbs was a lot of weight for him to gain, but seeing as he put most of it in his gut, it's an amazing transformation. Bale's age may put an end to these kinds of changes seeing as they will become harder to reverse. Vice may be his last time gaining or losing so much weight seeing was 45 when it was released.

Bale was nominated for his fourth Academy Award for portraying Cheney in Vice. Watching the movie, it's hard to tell the difference seeing how seamlessly he was able to become the Vice President both physically and by emulating his characteristics.
