Alternative Oscars 2018: The Nominees & Winners For Every Category
6. Best Makeup & Hairstyling
WINNER: Darkest Hour
Darkest Hour had this Oscar sewn up from the moment the first image was released showing a totally unrecognisable Gary Oldman made up as Winston Churchill.
The stupendous makeup job is the main reason Oldman's performance works as well as it does, and totally achieves its goal of convincing the audience they're looking at someone other than the player in the part.
Victoria & Abdul's makeup work was totally forgettable so that's been switched out for It, because the Pennywise makeup is hugely responsible for the film being as effectively creepy as it is.
Wonder was also nominated by the Academy, and it's a worthy nominee, so no change there.
RUNNERS-UP:
2. It
3. Wonder
