WINNER: A Fantastic Woman

Indeed, Sebastián Lelio's drama is a remarkable character piece, shining a light onto a subset of society rarely given their time on-screen. It's probably going home with the actual Oscar, too, so props to the Academy for actually getting this one right.

To be honest, they got the category mostly right, though we'd substitute out Lebanese drama The Insult for Angelina Jolie's harrowing account of life under Cambodia's Communist Khmer Rouge regime, First They Killed My Father.
