Alternative Oscars 2018: The Nominees & Winners For Every Category

13. Best Adapted Screenplay

Blade Runner 2049 Ryan Gosling Harrison Ford
Warner Bros.

WINNER: Blade Runner 2049

Some might argue that Blade Runner 2049's narrative is too sparse and too reliant on its style to win an Oscar, but with its unconventional exploration of the hero myth - which it totally flips on its head with a brilliant third-act reveal - and how terrifically it lived up to the previous film, it deserves to be recognised.

Elsewhere the Academy basically nailed this category, nominating some more populist picks - Logan, The Disaster Artist and Molly's Game - alongside the movie that's actually going to win: Call Me by Your Name.

RUNNERS-UP:

2. Logan

3. The Disaster Artist

4. Call Me by Your Name

5. Molly's Game
