10. It Has A Better Grasp Of Handling Multiple Plot Strands Than Spider-Man 3
The main reason we have a rebooted Spider-Man franchise right now pretty much comes down to the criticisms that were aimed at Spider-Man 3 upon first release; although the movie made a killing at the box office, fans and critics alike panned Sam Raimi's flick for being too tightly packed with multiple plot strands. The fact that Spider-Man was forced to face off against his old friend Harry Osborn (as the Green Goblin Mk. II), the Sandman and Venom all at once... well, it was much too much and the picture was unable to compensate everyone equally. Although there are a lot of plot threads running through The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - like with Spider-Man 3, it features three villains - the movie doesn't feel quite so overwhelming. Granted, then studio could have probably done with removing the Rhino, as to allow more time for Electro's development (he is, after all, the main villain of the piece), or waited until The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to cue Harry Osborn's transformation into the Green Goblin, but on the whole, things mostly work. At 142 minutes, it's slightly long, but at least there's enough time for everyone.
