Dane DeHaan is one of the best young actors working today, and though he takes a little while to enter the picture, he's great as billionaire Harry Osborn, who has just inherited his father's corporation, massive fortune, and genetic disease. His banter with Peter works perfectly, though sadly his character arc feels incredibly rushed: he begins to fall ill far too quickly, and though his frustration at not being able to get Spider-Man's blood for a cure is believable, how quickly he becomes a villain simply isn't. Before we know it, Harry has teamed up with Electro to help him steal the Green Goblin suit from Oscorp, and he shows up at the end of the movie to battle Spider-Man. He causes Gwen Stacy's death, but by this point has been subdued by Spidey, and the movie ends with the implication that he will likely return in the future. Despite DeHaan's good work early on, he doesn't get much to do as Green Goblin: perhaps the story needed to be reshuffled a little to either introduce him earlier on or simply save the Goblin for the third movie.
