The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 7 Reasons It Makes Sense To Keep Gwen Stacy Alive

2. Gwen Should Have A Complete Character Arc

915556 - The Amazing Spider-Man Not only should Peter and Gwen's relationship need time to develop, I'd also love for Gwen to have a more fleshed out character arc. It was great that Gwen didn't become a damsel in distress in the first film - she actually helped Spider-Man save the city - but for me personally, with the exception of the scene where she tells Peter how his super hero exploits reminded her of having a police officer as a father, I never felt the film really explored who Gwen was as person. For the most part, there wasn't much more to her character other than just being charming. This series is primarily the story of Peter Parker, but the people around Peter are just as important to who he is, and these people help flesh out and give texture to this universe. I believe this new should show us who Gwen really is as a person - not just that's she charming or smart - but explore her goals and aspirations, instead of having her be completely defined by her relationship to Peter/Spider-Man.
