The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 7 Reasons It Makes Sense To Keep Gwen Stacy Alive

1. The Green Goblin Has To Kill Her

Willem Dafoe Green Goblin The Green Goblin, who is actually Norman Osborn, father of Peter's friend Harry, had been an established Spider-Man villain for years but the defining moment for that character was when he threw Gwen off the George Washington Bridge, leading to Spider-Man's failed attempt to save her. If the filmmakers truly want to stay true to the comics, it should be the Goblin who kills her. Chris Cooper will play Norman in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, who we learned was dying in the previous film, and judging by recent comments made by Cooper, I think Norman will likely not become the Goblin in this film until the very end, setting him up as the villain for the third film. If Gwen is killed by Electro (Jamie Foxx) before the Goblin even appears, it begs the question of what the Goblin can do that will be as dramatic or earth shattering. Add to the fact the Goblin didn't kill Mary Jane in the first Raimi film, we'll have two series where the Goblin doesn't commit his most infamous deed. Norman was a mysterious background presence in the first film, so it only makes sense that his presence will pay off with Gwen's demise. So, what do you think readers. When do you think Gwen should meet her fate? Do you even want her to die? Chime in below.
