The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Ending: 11 Big Questions For Webb's Spidey Universe
8. How Does Marc Webb Plan On Balancing Six Villains?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a surprising success, given how many pitfalls there were that could have derailed it entirely, but it's still hard to shake the feeling that there were just too many villains involved. It wasn't simply an issue of Rhino, Green Goblin and Electro either, as Webb threw in a broken patriarchal villain in the shape of Norman Osborn, and then three villains for the villains in the shape of Colm Feore's Donald Menken, Marton Csokas' Dr. Kafka and Louis Cancelmi's enigmatic Man In Black Suit. And of course Captain Stacy was there in a villain-like moral function. Basically, Peter is already surrounded, and that's without considering Mister Fear and the other members of the Sinister Six we haven't yet met, so you really have to worry about how Webb is going to balance so many characters without making some compromises - potentially with characters we are yet to meet - leading to an unhappy Hawkeye style situation.
