The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer - 6 Things We Learned

1. 3 Villains And An Expanding Rogues Gallery

Oscorp Now that we have confirmation that the Goblin will be in this film in some capacity, we officially have a film with (at least) three villains: Electro, the Rhino, and Green Goblin. We're also shown a brief look at Doc Ock's robotic tentacles and a pair of wings presumably belonging to The Vulture, which, if you're keeping count at home, leads us right into the Sinister Six. The Sinister Six has been teased since the first film came out, and we've been slowly getting bits and pieces of information and teaser images over the past year that confirmed that that's the direction Webb is taking the franchise. At this point, we can assume that the roster for the Sinister Six will be The Lizard, Electro, Rhino, Goblin, Vulture, and Doc Ock. Now, that lineup could easily change, especially if not all of them survive this movie, but at this point it's an exciting thing for fans to look forward to. Sinister We're given a great tease of a room full of numbered doors, 1 through 6, sliding open, and another shot of the man from the last film's post-credits sequence, cloaked in shadow and sporting the trenchcoat and fedora we last saw him in. Fans are already wary that this film will suffer from villain overload and fall into the same pitfalls that so badly damaged Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. Only time will tell if this is the case, and though it's fair for fans to worry about having too many villains crammed into one movie, screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci addressed the issue earlier this summer:
"I think you have to go into it and say, 'is this character essential to the story or are you just throwing him in for no reason whatsoever'," said Kurtzman. "We would never do anything other than what felt like it was organic to the flow of the story. A lot of consideration was given to the construction of that , so that when you see it, you'll get the big picture."
For now, let me ask that fans remain cautiously optimistic. Yes, the film runs the risk of feeling too crowded, but it's unlikely that the writers and director would so easily make the same mistakes that killed Raimi's series. Chances are, villains like Rhino, Vulture, and Doc Ock are merely being introduced and set up for future films, whereas Electro and Goblin will have a more prominent role here. Rhino In any case, this trailer gave us plenty to sink our teeth into before the film hits theaters in May. How do you feel about the trailer? Are you excited about this movie? Or are you still worried about its potential problems? Let us know in the comments below!
