6. Venom

Venom is coming to the Amazing Spider-Man movie franchise (and will hopefully go a long way towards rectifying Topher Grace's horrible depiction of the character in Spider-Man 3, but that's beside the point). The character will get his own spin-off movie, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon writing an instalment focused on Venom (with Kurtzman also directing). Now, Venom is generally depicted and thought of as an outright villain - but that's not strictly true. The character has been depicted as heroic - in most cases as an anti-hero - and as such he could offer some help to Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man movie franchise if he is portrayed as such. It seems as though the line-up of the movie version of the Sinister Six will not include Venom, with characters like the Green Goblin, Rhino, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Electro and Kraven the Hunter currently the favourites to form the villainous group. So will this franchise's version of Venom (which seems to be serum-based, rather than symbiotic, going by the clues) assist Spider-Man against his sextet of foes? You'll have to wait and see, but it's undoubtedly a distinct possibility.
