5. Higher Budget
The first Anchorman movie had a budget of $26 million and this has reportedly been upped to $50 million for the sequel. Now, I wouldn't be foolish enough to say that more money spent will instantly make a better movie. The Tom Cruise sci-fi Oblivion might have been a good film had it had half the budget, for example. It is, of course, all about how the filmmakers use the extra money and there are signs in the trailer that it has been put to good comic use. There is a set piece in the trailer on board an RV, involving scorpions, a deep fat fryer and a bowling ball, which look like it might have been expensive to shoot. Thankfully, it also made me laugh a lot. Hopefully this is just one of a few of these scenes that make use of the additional budget to make us laugh. Maybe Anchorman 2 can show us that more money really can be a good thing when it comes to comedy sequels.
