Andy Fickman to direct Witch Mountain

witchmountain.jpgAnyone remember Escape to With Mountain, the 1975 fantasy flick that starred Donald Pleasence and later got it's own sequel Return from Witch Mountain with Bette Davis and Christopher Lee? No neither do I but the Walt Disney based studio Gunn Films are set to 'reimagine' the movie with Andy Fickman sitting in the director's chair, so says The Hollywood Reporter. You might remember Fickman as the guy who got in touch with this site after I called his upcoming comedy movie The Game Plan a 'lazy ass effort' after viewing the trailer.
The 1975 film was based on a science fiction novel by Alexander Key and followed a pair of siblings, endowed with paranormal powers, who go on the run from a diabolical group of men who wish to exploit their abilities. The brother and sister turn out to be extraterrestrials.
The title will be changed to Witch Mountain and will be based on a draft from writer Matt Lopez, who scribed Bedtime Stories, an Adam Sandler star vehicle which is set to begin shooting in January. Witch Mountain seems like a catchy title but really out of all the things to remake? At least it won't piss anyone off I guess.
