Annabelle: Creation Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs
3. Stephanie Sigman's Compelling Performance
Though it at first seems like Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto are going to be the movie's adult protagonists, it really ends up being Stephanie Sigman, who you might recognise from her small role at the start of Spectre or from Netflix's hit show Narcos.
She plays Sister Charlotte, a nun charged with looking after the young orphan girls, and brings unexpected nuance to a character who could so easily have been a one-dimensional horror cliche.
Rather, Sigman makes Charlotte a dignified, likeable and resourceful heroine in her own right, ensuring she's easy to root for and you genuinely care when she's put in danger.
