Anne Hathaway: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

She dreamed a dream.

© Ron Asadorian/Splash News/Corbis You know you've made it as an actor when you can pick and choose your projects. As an indication of her status, Anne Hathaway only felt the need to do one movie this year, The Intern, alongside Robert De Niro, which has just been hit cinemas. And it doesn't look like a short-term go-slow either: her upcoming slate includes just two movies - Alice Through The Looking Glass, in 2016, and The Burning Woman a year later. That's certainly not a bad position to be in, and shows how far Hathaway has come in a relatively short space of time since arriving on screen as fresh-faced royalty in The Princess Diaries, and now she can lay claim to being an Oscar winner, and a star of two billion dollar movies. Nothing to be sniffed at that. No wonder she doesn't feel the need to work very often. As with a conspicuous number of former child stars (or at least those who break through at a younger age), Hathaway has also taken risks, which is always admirable. Well, at least until they don't pay off. Like in 2014, when she appeared in Don Peyote, Rio 2, and Don Jon, a slate which suggests that while she can pick her projects, she doesn't always choose wisely. For every awards grabbing turn, there's a poorly thought out rom-com. While one of those billion dollar movies is deserving of the box office, the other's is baffling. Anne Hathaway has made it, and along the way she has been awesome, but at times she's also totally sucked.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
