Anne Hathaway: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

5 That Sucked...

5. Liz - Valentine's Day (2010)

If you're looking for proof that having a cast of A-list talent isn't enough to guarantee quality, look no further than Valentine's Day, an ensemble comedy telling a variety of interconnected stories taking place on the card-makers' favourite day of the year. It's a bit like Love Actually, only without the humour, heart, and Christmastime setting, or any charm. Or any good acting performances... It stars the likes of Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Julia (and Emma) Roberts, and many more besides, with Hathaway playing Liz Curran, adding to a disinterested and underused cast who sleepwalk through their scenes as if all are cameos. She plays the girlfriend of Topher Grace's character, and also moonlighting as a phone-sex worker in order to pay off her student loans. How very bloody modern. It's also about as funny as it sounds. It's perhaps a little mean to spoon too much blame onto Hathaway, as nobody really emerged with any credibility at the end credits, but she's particularly bland when she could have at least gone down fighting.
