3. The Fantastic Musical Score

Ex Machina composers Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow return to provide the musical score here, and once again, they've delivered a score that fleets between hauntingly beautiful and pulsingly surreal.

From the various stripped-down, acoustic guitar-led tracks peppered throughout the film to some infrequent, discordant uses of synths, there's a real diversity to the music on offer, which suits the mood and tone of the visuals perfectly.

Though the film would be incredibly atmospheric even if there was no music to speak of, Salisbury and Barrow's contributions help boost it to that next level.
