20 Horror Movies You'll Never Get To See

8. James Wan's Creature from the Black Lagoon

There have been countless attempts to remake 1954's classic monster movie Creature from the Black Lagoon over the last 70 years, none of which have yet come to fruition.

The most recent attempt came in August 2024, when Saw and The Conjuring's James Wan was announced to be developing his own new take on the IP.

It's certainly easy to see how Wan could be a fine fit for such a project, yet it didn't take long for him to offer a less sturdy update on how development was going.

In an interview last year, Wan said that Creature from the Black Lagoon was "not an easy one," adding that it "takes a lot to get it right," prompting some fans to surmise that he was struggling to crack the creative and the film might be sliding into development hell.

Considering that Wan has a whole ton of projects on the go, namely working on the next Saw film and producing literally dozens of upcoming horror movies, would it surprise anyone at all if this ultimately became another unrealised remake?
