Ant-Man: 10 Potential Roles For Corey Stoll

The House Of Cards actor is in talks for Ant-Man, but who would he be?

The US House Of Cards actor and notable bald man Corey Stoll is currently in talks with Marvel Studios to appear in next year's Ant-Man movie directed by Edgar Wright. Significant in that it'll be the next 'fringe' Marvel movie to be made after this summer's Guardians Of The Galaxy, it's unclear what to expect from the film as the story €“ written by Wright and Attack The Block writer/director Joe Cornish €“ has so far been kept under wraps, aside from the information that Michael Douglas will play original Hank Pym and Paul Rudd his successor (at least in the comics) Scott Lang. Ant-Man's certainly not a household name €“ not yet, at least €“ so it'll be interesting to see what fruits his translation to the silver screen will bear, as it's unlikely a superhero film made by the director of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World will be very much like the MCU films we've seen so far. That uncertainty means it's hard to gauge whether it'll have major ties to the core universe or be more self-contained like GotG and what characters will make an appearance. As Stoll is still in talks and the character he could potentially play hasn't been announced yet, here are some educated guesses at players in the Marvel Universe who have ties to Ant-Man and Stoll might have the right qualities to portray.

10. Egghead

Who? A very early villain of first Ant-Man Hank Pym, Elihas Starr started out as your average genius-level atomic researcher turned criminal mastermind and was dealt his first defeat by Pym when he tried (and failed) to create his own device for controlling ants and kidnapped his partner Janet Van Dyne, aka Wasp. A long-time nemesis of Pym's, Egghead had no superpowers of his own but concocted many schemes driven by revenge and orchestrated Ant-Man's one-time downfall in the eyes of the Avengers, first tricking and blackmailing him into committing illegal acts and later framing him as a criminal co-conspirator. The villain was foiled, as they usually are, but Starr will always be one of the more personal enemies Hank Pym has had. Why Stoll Could Play Him: Well, he's certainly got the hair for it. Although Stoll isn't completely bald, he could easily go the whole chrome-dome route. Egghead is a comedic villain at face value, but with a definite core of pain under the surface (what kind of healthy person would give themselves such a derogatory name?) and I'm certain Wright could make the most out of both qualities. Corey Stoll also has experience in the realm of tragicomic roles in the vein of Peter Russo and Ernest Hemingway in Midnight In Paris, so he could definitely make Egghead work.
