Ant-Man: 13 Obscure Easter Eggs & References You Probably Missed
1. The Accords
One of the most compelling elements of the post-credits stinger that saw the return of Ant-Man is the question of "the accords" mentioned as an impediment to Iron Man potentially helping.
Whether that means a controlling authority called The Accords (not a massive stretch, considering the MCU's penchant for classifying hero and villain groups) or just a group of agreements regulating superhero conduct remains to be seen. Presumably, since Iron Man seems to have to answer to them, and Cap is happy to defy them, they're actually a group. But who could they be?
Will they be HYDRA hiding under another authoritative disguise? There's a distinct possibility, given the fact that the scene was taken out of Civil War's rushes directly, and thus was clearly important to the narrative: in essence, Bucky is a key part of the Civil War being fought.
And the fact that he's trapped in a vice, and needs to be freed (by Ant-Man, who will presumably pick the lock), suggests that he has been led to that place and ensnared in a booby trap. As Sebastien Stan has said:
“In terms of that scene in Ant-Man, I’ve seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you’re seeing on the surface, it’s not as obvious as that. There might be a whole lot more to the scene. I would say someone would probably want to put him in a vice.”
So reading well between the lines, it would appear that someone wants Cap to try and free Bucky (he's clearly been there a while, and if they wanted merely to trap him, they'd presumably have done soemthign with him), in the knowledge that working with him will offend the accords. And presumably cause all out war.
Did we just see a flash of the trigger event?
