No matter how many iconic roles Laurence Fishburne tackles over the course of his career, to most film fans he'll always be best-remembered for playing Morpheus in the Matrix trilogy, and rightfully so.

Unsurprisingly, Peyton Reed couldn't help but sneak a sly reference to the classic sci-fi action franchise into his film. When we first meet Bill Foster (Fishburne), he's finishing up a lecture, and on the equation-filled blackboard behind him, the word "matrix" is briefly visible just behind his head.

Yes, the word has a legitimate mathematical utility, but come on, there's no way it made it onto that blackboard with that actor standing in front of it by pure chance.
