17. Animal House

Moments before Scott is kidnapped by Hope and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), his boredom sees him watching National Lampoon's comedy classic Animal House, and director Peyton Reed clearly chose a very specific scene from the movie to feature for a few brief seconds.

The scene in question sees Pinto (Thomas Hulce) hitting a joint with Professor Dave Jennings (Donald Sutherland), when we hear Pinto talk about the nature of the universe. He says, "That means that one tiny atom in my fingernail could be...", to which Jennings adds, "could be one tiny little universe."

Given the movie's obvious focus on atom-sized shenanigans and the Quantum Realm, it's hard to imagine a better-fitting pop-culture reference, really.
