Ant-Man And The Wasp: Is The Sequel Better Than The Original?

6. The Action Sequences

As said before, these two movies are both comedies more so than anything else, but that doesn't mean that the action scenes weren't incredible. In 2015, the shrinking of Ant-Man was groundbreaking, unlike anything we had seen before.

The battles with Scott shrinking and growing as needed were great, but the real pinnacle of this movie's action was the hilarious train sequence. Finely balancing tension and comedy, this scene was easily the best in the entire movie.

Ant-Man and The Wasp however, simply had more to play with. For starters, Lang was no longer fighting on his own, and having two characters shrinking down was always going to be better than one, particularly when one can fly. There is also a new dimension added with Scott's alter-alter ego, Giant-Man. This character's introduction was one of the shining moments of Captain America Civil War, which is really saying something, and was an aspect that we didn't get to enjoy in 2015.

The final piece that puts Ant-Man and The Wasp above its predecessor is Ghost. The villain was not fantastic (more on that later) but her aesthetic was very different to anything we have seen in the MCU before, and it was incredibly fun to watch her do battle with her unsuspecting, confused opponents.

Winner: Ant-Man and the Wasp
