Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania - 8 Reasons It Sucks

7. Scott And Hope Have Never Been Blander

One of the biggest problems with Phase 4 was that its returning heroes weren't as good as they used to be and were either overly static or even regressed as characters. What Thor: Love and Thunder did to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is perhaps the worst example of this, but this was a problem all through that disastrous phase.

And they've done it again.

Scott just does his same old shtick without being nearly as funny and charming as he once was, and he doesn't get any sort of character progression. If anything, he's exactly the same at the end of the movie as he was at the start of it and ironically enough, Quantumania makes a character who was usually one of the most fun Avengers really boring.

As for Hope, there wasn't much to ruin as she's always been a bit of a humourless bore but this threequel was an opportunity to improve the character... which Marvel Studios definitely didn't take.

In fact, she's totally sidelined throughout the film and gets pretty much nothing to do despite being, you know, one of the title characters. And, to add insult to injury, she and Scott still don't have the slightest bit of romantic chemistry.
