Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania - 8 Reasons It Sucks
6. The Cast Is Wasted
Aside from Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily not being given the material they deserve, the rest of the cast don't fare much better. Michelle Pfeiffer gets a good role and Jonathan Majors is brilliant, but that's about it.
Michael Douglas is heavily under-used as Hank Pym, the excellent Corey Stoll is wasted yet again in his return to the series (more on that soon though) and Bill Murray gets nothing more than a one-scene cameo.
Still, at least those guys actually got to be in the movie; many great characters from the first two films are completely absent.
Luis (Michael Pena), the arguable scene-stealer of the first two films, is never even mentioned; nor are Dave (Tip Harris) or Kurt (David Dastmalchian), Scott's other ex-criminal buddies. More surprisingly still, Scott's ex-wife Maggie (Judy Greer) and her husband Jim (Bobby Cannavale) - who delightfully subverted the tiresome film cliche that the hero's ex-wife's new husband is a jerk - are nowhere to be seen either.
Randall Park's Jimmy Woo, who was great in Ant-Man 2 and also did fine work in WandaVision, does get to appear... but for only 10 seconds in a silent cameo. For shame!
Marvel movies always get such good casts but recent films just haven't seemed to know what to do with them, and Quantumania continues that unfortunate trend.
