Ant-Man Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know
2. ...But The Third Act Is A Doozy
Talking about Ant-Man's perceived pacing issues, Jeremy Smith adds that the film takes a moment to get cranked up, but once it does, its sensational, before concluding, my favourite third-act of any Marvel movie. Whilst complaints about the pacing are common, so too is universal praise for Ant-Man's climax. Jack Giroux notes that the film being almost all build up before a dazzling climax is just part of the fun with heist films. In that case, the problem sounds like audiences going in expecting one type of movie, and getting another. A refrain throughout these reviews is Ant-Man has more heart and warmth than any other Marvel film. Which sounds very Edgar Wright, whose films will spend a while setting up characters you care about and believe in which means, when the big action spectacles start happening, you're actually invested in the people involved. Hot Fuzz isn't the same if you barely know the main characters. Ant-Man, from the sounds of it, really earns its pay-off.
