Ant-Man Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know

8. It Lives Up To The Ocean's 11 Comparisons

Besides highlighting the comedic side of Ant-Man, the other aspect of the film Marvel have been hyping is how it's sort of a caper flick. Unlike the usual baddie-bashing action spectacle of the Iron Men, Captain America and Thor movies, this is a film whose star is a convicted criminal, hired to €œbreak into a place and steal some stuff.€ There has been a shift in Marvel's solo films to fit into specific sub-genres. Not only was Guardians Of The Galaxy a blockbuster, it was also a space opera. Captain America: The Winter Soldier specifically evoked conspiracy thrillers of the seventies. So, does Ant-Man carry on that trend by properly going in on the heist genre? Apparently so! Not only that, but it's inspired comparisons to one of the better examples of the genre in recent times. €œANT-MAN is a TON of fun! It's Marvel's version of Ocean's 11,€ wrote MovieWeb's Brian Gallagher, citing the €œgreat cast€ and €œslick score€. Not only is it a great film, but it's a great caper film specifically.
