9. Edgar Wright Still Feels Present
The Marvel Studios train is one that had thus far been trucking on smoothly without incident, as the nascent comic publisher-turned-production-company managed to coax some dynamite talent to their films. Jon Faverau, Kenneth Branagh, Joss Whedon (and, yes, Louis Leterrier) all hinted at a studio who could get the best directors. And then Ant-Man happened. Edgar Wright is a fan-favourite thanks to directing cult sitcom space and the similarly pop-culture-savvy Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. He'd actually been working on an Ant-Man film before the MCU even existed. So his exiting the film felt like a major blow. Apparently it was something like creative differences that caused the rift between Wright and Marvel, something which soured audiences on the film before it was released. The bad news? Peyton Reed's still directing. The good news? Edgar Wright deserves co-director credit
according to HitFix's Gregory Ellwood. It feels like his movie.
