Ant-Man & The Wasp: 7 Things We Want To See In Marvel’s Insect-Themed Sequel

7. The Return Of Janet Van Dyne From The Quantum Realm

It's safe to assume that Ant-Man sequel will see Professor Pym redouble his efforts to rescue his wife Janet van Dyne from the Quantum Realm after Scott Lang proved that it is indeed possible to escape from the metaphysical dimension. The character's celluloid fate echoes her plight in a 2010 comic book storyline that followed on from the Avengers vs X-Men crossover event, in which Thor's spatial warp left her stranded in a microscopic universe. Elements of this story could be cherrypicked for Ant-Man and the Wasp, hopefully paving the way for viewers to find out more about the mysteries of the Quantum Realm and give Reed the chance to dazzle with some mind-bending effects. Two wasps for the price of one sound great, but who should play the original version? Douglas has named his real-life wife Catherine Zeta-Jones as his top pick to portray his on-screen missus, and this is a casting choice we can get behind. You'd expect the power couple to share chemistry in front of the camera, and the Welsh actress has never been one to shy away from the action genre. She even had a role in the comic book-inspired Red 2 a couple of years back. Perhaps the most logical reason for casting Zeta-Jones as the original Wasp is the much-publicised age gap between her and Douglas. Time has no meaning in the Quantum Realm, so that would explain why Pym looks so much older than his long lost wife.
